Why you have a number

The moment you join OneTopic, you receive a number.

It's simply the order in which you arrived. Nothing more.

When I first came up with this idea, a lot of people didn't understand it.

"It doesn't unlock features."

"It doesn't make you more popular."

"It doesn't help you win debates."

They're right. It wasn't designed to do any of those things.

It exists because I believe joining a community is a moment worth remembering.

Your number never changes. No algorithm can move it. Nobody can buy a lower one. Nobody can take yours away.

Whether you're #8 or #800,000, your number marks the moment you decided to be here.

Years from now, when millions of people have joined OneTopic, you'll still know exactly when your story began.

I think that's worth preserving.
